Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.
– Psalm 119:105
– Psalm 119:105
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 Wow! Good to know…I can do ALL things! Maybe I’ll begin by leaping a tall building with a single bound or establishing world peace by lunchtime or maybe just getting all the closets organized and the crumbs cleaned out of the silverware tray and out from under the toaster! To tell you the truth though, each task seems as daunting as the one listed before it. So exactly what do you think Paul meant when he spoke these words to the Philippians? I think the key words in this verse are not “I can do all things” but rather “through Christ”. We weren’t created by God to be super heroes, or to live each day breaking our neck trying to do a hundred things to please everyone we know. We were created to be His hands and feet here on earth. I don’t recall a single passage in Sacred Scripture that described Jesus multi-tasking, over-booking His schedule or speaking only to those people with the most urgent needs. The beauty of this verse is that it is simply calling us to do the tasks that God puts before us each day. He’s not asking us to bear the burdens of the world and do ALL things. He’s directing us to ask Him what His plan for us is each day and then He will supply us with all the grace, mercy, love and strength we need. I think it’s a good idea to take an inventory of ALL the things we’re trying to accomplish in a day and prayerfully sort through them…maybe we’re trying to do a task that was really meant to bring somebody else closer to God! Maybe our greatest task of the day is as simple as stopping to listen carefully to a person who just really needs to be heard. A Seed to plant: Take a look at your “to do” list for the next few days and ask God for the wisdom to know which tasks are really yours. Then take a few minutes to ask for the strength to be His hands and feet as you accomplish them. Blessings on your day!

Holy WOW!!! Today in my prayers I "told" God that somehow I really needed to stop and listen to His word before my day gets so crazy with work, kids, grandkids and mom. Was on Facebook and seen this invite to your website. God moves at least by 4gb's!! I used to think my prayers were somewhere left on His desk and He would get to them after world peace, diseases and other trauma's of the world. Thank you God for this instant answer and for you Sheri for inspiration.

Hi Sheri! You're RIGHT ON, Sista! Daily Gospel = Daily Life. Thanks for opening my eyes today to the realization that I CAN do all things today that GOD wants me to achieve. At the days end, I will reflect on what got done and perhaps why God felt it important. I will be sure to be more conscious of listening to others, especially Him. Thanks again for your inspiration.

Thank you for inviting me to be your FB friend this week because it led me to your blog. Did I ever need to read this post this morning! Really needing to work on that second part....not thinking I have to do it all, but rather I can do all that God asks of me so long as I listen to my instructions from Him and rely totally on Christ to give me the grace I need to do what God's asked of me...and only me! Blessings to you today.

Thank-you Sheri so much for sharing! I was so blessed to be able to spend this past weekend with the people I love and inspiring people like you who helped me realize so many things and drew me nearer to God. You are truely an inspiration to me. Not only did you take time out of your busy schedule to go on a religous retreat with a bunch of crazy kids (hehe), but you also left behind something that's priceless on each of our hearts, an understanding in our faith. I enjoyed having you as our group chaperone and getting to hear things from you that never made sense when anyone else said them, but made TOTAL sense hearing you say them. You have a gift from God being able to make the impact that you do on people. Thanks again, and may God bless you!! --- Tawni =))
